Our Story

Anchor Point Church started as a campus plant from Gold Creek Community Church. In 2016, Pastor James and his family felt God leading them from San Diego to Washington. It was through his connection to Pastor Dan Kellogg, the founding pastor of Gold Creek, that a partnership developed to plant campus #3. Pastor James was given the green light to plant anywhere in Washington. Through prayer and listening to God’s voice, he was continually pulled towards Lake Stevens. He listened to that prompting and together with 13 other families from Gold Creek, started meeting at Hillcrest Elementary school in Lake Stevens. This began in January of 2017

A few years later they had outgrown the space and moved down the street to Lake Stevens Middle School. As they continued to grow, they looked at finding a piece of property that they could one day build and put down roots in the community. In 2019, land became available for us to purchase. And in 2020, we officially closed on the property and became landowners. It was also in 2020 that the pandemic created a logistical problem as all schools were closed for the next 2.5 years.

Our church moved A LOT in this time! Seven times to be specific. And though it would have been easy to fold up and start over, as many churches were closing their doors during this time, we felt God wasn’t finished with us yet and we persevered. In the fall of 2022, we were able to get back into Lake Stevens Middle School and have been rebuilding and reloading as God has continued to guide and direct us.

In May of 2025, God was once again directing us to move. But this time, He wanted us to move as a separate entity from Gold Creek. As tough as that was, we knew that obedience always requires sacrifice. So we launched as Anchor Point Church on August 31st, 2025.Our future is in front of us and we are truly excited to see what God will do!
